The Blue Line Club will once again host the annual Miami Hockey jersey auction in 2010. The jerseys to be auctioned this year will be the white home “M” jerseys. These will be the actual “game worn” jerseys worn by the team. They will have the players name removed before delivery. The jerseys will not be available for pickup (or delivery if you are not in the Oxford area) until after the conclusion of the season. All numbers will be included in the auction over the last 2 home games. Minimum bid for each jersey will be $200.

The 2010 jersey auction will be conducted on 2 dates:

Saturday, February 20 vs Nebraska-Omaha
Friday February 26 vs Ohio State

This year, in addition to bidding on jerseys at the Goggin during the game, you will be able to submit bids for each auction for the number you want via e-mail. To bid via e-mail, you must send your bid to miamihockeyjerseyauction@miamiblc.org by noon on the day of the auction. Any bids received after 12:00 noon on the day of the auction will not be considered. Your bid will be acknowledged that it was received prior to the auction, but we will not advise if we have received higher bids for the same jersey number. If 2 or more people submit e-mail bids on the same jersey with the same maximum, the first one we receive will get the bid.

If you are the winner, you will be sent an e-mail with instructions to pay for your jersey and instructions on when it will be available for pickup by you or mailing to you. Payment may be made by check.

Your evening will start off with a greeting by maitre d’ Tommy Wingels as he welcomes you to this wonderful interactive event. Dinner includes stir fry, pizza, cheese sticks, wings, salad, smoothies and dessert. The players actually serve up the food and at the very popular “wok link” you choose between beef, chicken or shrimp and add all the fixins and veggies you want. Your meal is then personally prepared by one of the team. Served with an egg roll and rice the players show off their culinary skills and entertain the crowd.

A constant “oommmpaahh” can be heard from the pizza station as the guys dish up fresh pizza and bread sticks. Salad and smoothies are offered non-stop. To round out your dinner, dessert includes cherries jubilee (flames and all… the team is really hot this year!) and cookies. A great all-you-can-eat meal for $10.

Good natured ribbing can be heard as the freshmen players who are relegated to “back office” functions, such as cleaning pots, pans and dishes come out of the kitchen. The other players start hollering and shouting to draw attention to them.

Previous year’s attendees have stated this was the best event they had ever attended. It’s great to see the players up close and chat with them as you wait in line. You don’t want to miss this event!

Each Trip cost $30 member/$35 non member, includes a seat on the bus and a ticket to the game

This year we are celebrating the first 30 years of the Men’s Varsity Hockey program at Miami.  We will be welcoming head coach Enrico Blasi, assistant coach Chris Bergeron, and Miami’s first varsity coach, Steve Cady to talk about their experiences at Miami. Following dinner, the coaching panel will answer questions from Blue Line Club members about the history, and current state of the program.

Dinner reservations need to be returned by October 28, 2009.  Reservations can be made by calling 513-529-9820 or sending an e-mail to QADinner@MiamiBLC.org.  Reservations can also be made at the Blue Line Club Booth at home games through October.  Checks should be made payable to Miami University.
